KPV-1, also known as Alpha-MSH fragment or KPV, is a synthetic tripeptide derived from the naturally occurring melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Alpha-MSH is a pleiotropic neuropeptide that plays a role in various physiological processes, including pigmentation, inflammation, and immune modulation. KPV-1 retains many of the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of the full alpha-MSH molecule, specifically those mediated through the melanocortin receptors, primarily MC1R and MC3R.
